What is the use of the Digi Grey ?
The Digi Grey allows easy correction of the colours of digital photos without the need to have technical knowledge by the user. It is a strictly neutral grey which is traditionally used as a reference by professional photographers who require exact colours.
To whom is the Digi Grey aimed ?
To every owner, amateur or Professional, of a digital camera and concerned by the quality and colour of their photographs.
In which situation to use the Digi Grey ?
- indoor photos without flash (orange cast)
- under Fluorescent light (green cast)
- photos taken in the shadow, under blue sky or with flash (blue cast)
- white balance error of the camera
- in all other cases, it is advised to take a reference photo as a preventative.
How to process ?
During the shooting :
Take a photo of the Digi Grey placed near the subject under the same lighting (before, during or after the shooting). It will be the reference photo. After that, take your other photos without the Digi Grey.
In your graphic software :
In Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Photo Paint, Gimp or another graphic software, use the "Black and White Point", "Levels", "Curves" or equivalent tool and click with the dropper on the grey of the Digi Grey in the reference photo. The colours of the photos will be corrected immediately (white balance). Report the same correction on the other photos.
The Digi Grey specifications :
- Synthetic material (not paper nor cardboard) water resistant resistant and hard wearing.
- Anti-reflective, matt surface.
- In the mass coloured (do not lose colour when scratched).
- Colorimetric neutral under different types of lighting.
The Digi Grey is available in different sizes :
- PUNCH : adhesive circular format (approx. 2,7 cm diam.)
- MINI : creditcard format (approx. 5,5 x 8,5 cm)
- MEDIUM : large format (approx. 10,2 x 14,4 cm)
Remarks :
- The Digi Grey is suited for photos in RAW, TIFF and JPEG (JPG).
- The Digi Grey is not suited for films cameras.
- The Digi Grey is not suited for the exposure setting.
